Great Year of Weekends!

It's been a great year of weekend projects. There's no new video today, but check out a few favorites from this past year!

The most viewed video from our blip.tv views is how to make a catapult with Bill Gurstelle. We made this podcast at Maker Faire!

The most viewed weekend project video on youtube was the tutorial with Matt Stinchcomb about how to screenprint a t-shirt!

My personal favorite podcast of the year was making a power tool drag racer! Thanks to all the guests that were on podcast and for all the feedback, comments and awesomeness of 2007. Last year some friends and I made a Rube Goldberg machine in the woods out of sticks and stones. The Discovery Channel Canada asked us to do it again and Jesse, Brenda, and I went into nature again and made it bigger and better and more complicated. Jesse recently dug the footage out of the archives and edited together this widescreen version where you can see both perspectives at the same time. Solid freeform fabrication: DIY, on the cheap, and made of pure sugar

Jeez, I was -playing- around with some 3D sugar modeling and Evil Mad Scientist just totally demolished me in the sweetest way possible...

In February we gave a sneak preview of our project to construct a home-built three dimensional fabricator. Our design goals were (1) a low cost design leveraging recycled components (2) large printable volume emphasized over high resolution, and (3) ability to use low-cost printing media including granulated sugar. We are extremely pleased to be able to report that it has been a success: Our three dimensional fabricator is now fully operational and we have used it to print several large, low-resolution, objects out of pure sugar.

You thought the whole trebuchet thing was over? Nope! Here's a video from british tv of a car flinging trebuchet. Of course before you fling a car, it appears to be standard procedure to shoot it with a gun! I'm guessing that they took the engine out first to lighten it up. - Link
