I got my best tip for how to deal with junk mail from an email that circulated a while ago.
The tip was to fill all the reply-paid envelopes (which come with some of the junk mail, especially junk mail that offer something they want you to order; magazines, mail-order clothes etc.) to fill the reply-paid envelopes with as much junk mail as you can and put the envelopes in the mail box. In this way the company who sent the junk mail has to deal with the junk themselves. An eye for an eye :)
