Martha Stewart’s Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts is a must-have for a sewing lover’s craft library. This comprehensive book covers all you need to know for hand or machine sewing, including techniques such as appliqué, embroidery, quilting, dyeing, and printing. The book is filled with over 150 sewing projects (including a few no-sew ones too) pulled from the Martha archives. For me, having all these beautiful projects in one book just makes me so happy! It’s inspiration each time I turn the page. (I’ve already placed a bookmark for the drawstring pants pattern — hello PJ’s!) A lot of the projects also give you the chance to recycle by using up your fabric scraps, old clothing (great used menswear projects), and old sweaters. The book also comes with a CD which includes printable clothing patterns and templates. Mother’s Day is a little over a month away, but I already know that my mom would be thrilled to get this book.

Learn or refine your crafting skills with beautiful photos and step-by-step illustrations such as this photo from the appliqué lesson.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this book! Please pick me to win…I am a beginner sewer and this book would help out immensely as well as save me lots of internet searching time. There are a ton of great tutorials and info to help but having it all in this beautiful book would be awesome!
I need more sewing books! I love them!
Oh, I would so love this book. The pictures alone are beautiful and inspiring. And we could all use a good encyclopedia, especially by the guru herself, Martha!
I haven’t brought my sewing machine out of the closet for a year and I need a surge of inspiration! It’s a GREAT thing!
This would be an excellent birthday present for my mom. She’s a great seamstress, but having a book full of ideas would be wonderful (especially now that she’s got grandbabies to sew and craft for).
This book would join the other Martha books on my shelf and hopefully inspire me to start working with fabric again! It’s been too long.
Soooo, this book would be a match made in heaven for me !!!
Oh how I wish I lived near NYC to attend this amazing event! I have had my eye on this book since I first heard about it! Being a beginner sewer, I would love to have my own copy with this amazing book as my reference guide! I’m sure it’ll inspire me to progress with my sewing and improve my very limited basic skills! Thanks for the giveaway!
i heart martha stewart. she makes things look so effortless and a book like this on my bookshelf would look just dandy … though i’d likely have it out and open on my coffee table more so than on my bookshelf =)
Nobody does tutorials like Martha (-s staff!), so this would be one of those references that never goes out of style, even if specific patterns eventually get dated.
I would LOVE to win this for my bookshelf!
I love Martha Stewart! I know this book will be wonderful & helpful.
I have always loved the crafts Martha does, so I’d love this book!
Thanks,
Danna
What and awesome book~ The projects look so great!
Would love this book. I’m just happy that I finally figured out how to leave a comment.
I have a sewing machine, and have made a number of things that I’m excited about before they begin to fall apart. I’d love to have a reference I could study that would help me make durable pieces, inspire me to try new projects, and generally expand my knowledge of fabric crafts
I saw this book on Martha’s show today and it looks like a book that everyone will want to have on their shelf. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy!
Being crafty and artistic are things I have made a life of! In all my years as an artist I have avoided all sewing, fiber and and fabric crafts… mostly because of lack of knowledge. This great book would help me make the leap into fiber art!!! I’m ready! I’ll put it to good use, I promise!
I love Martha, and as a lesser craftie, I could always use her sage advice and beautiful aesthetic in my home.
writers need a dictionary
bakers and cooks need cookbooks
Crafters NEED martha. I don’t yet have martha and recognize the error of my ways, maybe Craftzine can help me.
I would love to learn more about sewing. There is a lonely sewing machine in my closet who would like to come out and play.
I need as much help as possible with my sewing. I’ve only been taught bits and pieces over the years and would really love to learn it properly. Thanks for the chance to win the book!
This book looks awesome! I don’t have any sewing books and would really like to learn how to do more than make pillows.
Who wouldn’t want a brand new Martha sewing book?! I’ve seen a few reviews of this book and it looks like fun. Always nice to have new inspiration and ideas.
oh yesss pleaseeeee! miss martha just is the best, isn’t she?
My 11 year old son is quite the crafter and improving his skills steadily. However, the addition of this book to our library would help him out tremendously!
We often craft together and would love a “go to” source like this book.
Malea
i used to be a big hand-sewer, but that’s fallen by the wayside lately. a book like this would provide some excellent inspiration!
I want to learn how to sew!
I need this book to show me how to follow patterns and sew a little neater. I have never followed a book or a pattern and I think of anyone in the world it’s Martha who can help me!
And I just really really want a copy! It is so pretty!
What I love most about everything that Martha Stewart does, is she expands the imagination with crafts and items we THOUGHT we knew! She then makes it all seem SO simple and gives instructions to prove it!
I look forward to reading this, Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts, to open new doors to creativity!!
I would love to own this book. I work nights and have been unable to find a beginning sewing class that fits into my work schedule, so I’ve been teaching myself to sew. Doable, but a book like this would help tremendously, and I’m confident there are many, many projects in this book that would appeal to me.
I would love a copy of this book! Aaah, go Martha!~
I’m tall and have a hard time finding clothes, so I started making my own…custom fit is always great!
Would *love* this book so I can get better and make more complicated things.
I don’t an an all-around go to book for all things fabric. I have a bunch of crochet books, but none that include sewing and other stitching techniques. My place could use some decorating, since our walls are still pretty bare after living here for a year and a half.
I just started sewing again and I have realized that I know the basics… and that is pretty much it. Would love to have a Martha book for inspiration and instructions to different avenues of using fabric!
I set an alarm in my calendar to stop somewhere to purchase this book today, but I decided to add it to my Amazon cart instead. I haven’t placed the order yet and saw your tweet for the giveaway. I would LOVE to win this book instead and save the money for supplies to make more projects! Thanks for the opportunity!
Oh gosh, what a great resource! I don’t have a whole lot of free time, so it’d be wonderful to have so many things compiled in one lovely book.
oh, i love this book. i’m working on improving my sewing, and while the book would make a great gift, the projects would make hundreds of great gifts! and i’m especially intrigued by recycling scraps and old clothing into projects.
I am and on again off again sewer and major crafter. I bought the other book and love it. I would really like to get into sewing more and this would help alot.
it’s as simple as that! Passion!
I am in love with creating new a fun projects for my family, friends and if I have time, myself.
I’m always longing for new inspirations and I feel this book would do just that and then some!
I would be tickled pink to have this beautiful book by the queen of the craft, Martha Stewart.
I would love to have this book so I may make every project it contains….twice! I love the Martha Stewart photos and instructions. They’re beautiful and very clear.
I would love to win the new Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts because I’m a sewer with no projects on the go right now. Martha books are always so inspirational.
I’m drooling over this book and would love to peruse the pages and be inspired by Martha’s crafty wisdom. I just know there will be a wonderful range of ideas and inspiration that can’t be found in other craft books.
Yes, NEED. I am getting my first sewing machine this summer and this would be the perfect way for me to get some sewing skills.
Thanks for the opportunity.
Jen
Who wouldn’t want it? Page after page of inspiration?? Pick me please!!
I have her other book, the Encyclopedia of Crafts, and I loved it! I am new at sewing but Martha always the cutest projects so I would love to own this book!
Though I have had basic sewing skills since my teens, my interest in sewing has recently grown. Sewing has become a matter of community: I open my windows to the Texas-warm spring air, set out tea and bread, and wait for my friends to arrive. We put our sewing machines on the kitchen table, and talk through our plans for weddings, children, and gardens as we learn how to make better hems, sharper pleats, and more lovely quilts.
i absolutely need this book!
i have grand ambition, and little know how.
oh martha, how you could help me so!
Can you ever get enough books?
Jana
fantasmic giveaway! looking forward to checking this tomb out!
MArtha always has such fun projects and, because I’m a total bookaholic, this one would be a great addition to my collection. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
Looks like a great book. I hope I get to see more of it!
Looks like a fabulous tomb to add to the collection! Great giveaway and great features!
Martha Stewart is like the Chuck Noris of the craft world.
“Superman wheres Chuck Norris pajamas, but Martha Stewart made them, by hand.”
re: http://www.chucknorrisfacts.com/node/147
Honestly, it had me at “patterns and templates”, but my daughter squealed louder than me when she saw Martha. I don’t know if that’s good or bad.
This year I am trying to make more gifts than I buy, so this would be a perfect resource. Plus, who wouldn’t want a cd of patterns?
Who wouldn’t love this book?! I’m embarrassed to say that I grew up w/ a seamstress mother and I still can’t sew well but everyone expects me to! I’m hoping this will help me keep my 2010 goal of making ALL my gifts too!
What a beautiful book! It looks full of projects I’d like to try.
I need this book. A lot. I am broke, and so I make all of my gifts for people, and I’m running out of ideas! Help me, Martha Stewart! You’re my only hope!
I watch Martha’s show and I have a subscription to MS Living (that’s set to expire any day now), but I don’t actually own ANY of her books! As a crafter and hoarder of sewing, knitting, and craft books, I’d love to add this book to my library of inspiration!
Btw, am I supposed to be writing an essay on why y’all should select me as one of the 3 lucky recipients or is this giveaway simply a random selection?
Cheers!
I would love to own a copy of this book! I just borrowed it from the library and it’s wonderful!
Lovely! I can’t wait to check out this crafty book! And a CD of patterns and templates?!? Amazing!
Hello,
I would be so, so appreciative to win this book. I love to make things and this book looks like it will have so many great ideas and creative projects. I have loved reading Martha’s magazine over the years which is always chock full of great ideas.
Plus, I think I really need to make those menswear bunnies.
I ineed help with my fabric scraps and my stash. I love martha’s stuff in general.

: )
I simply must make some of the heirloom tomato pincushions! I have been trying to get started quilting, and a friend of mine has taken to the craft like a fish to water. I need some motivation to get moving, and catch up to her. I love the detail and precision that Martha brings to everything that she does, and the illustrations are informative and easy to follow, as well as being beautiful. I would get a lot out of this book… making new bedroom decorations for my daughter, new dresses for her… the ideas just need that little spark to get going!
Now that I am a mom of 16M old twin boys I have more inspiration and confidence than I’ve ever had for sewing and handcrafts. I’d also be sharing the book with my girlfriends who always cheer me on to make new things!

Crafting and sewing is a major part of my life. I have discovered a passion and want to learn as much as I can in order to pass the wonders of the craft world on to my daughter. My mother got me interested, as did her mother, but I want to up the ante and teach my little girl when she is ready how amazing it feels to make something rather than purchase what everyone else can. It would be an honor to receive this book and pass on the legacy of craft. Thank you. P.S. I am big fan.
I love Martha’s books, and this one looks great!.
My cats are making me type this because they say they need those catnip fish!
New to sewing, I am discovering the the wonderous ways of my tenderly worn, hand-me-down machine. Who know it would make me so happy happy happy! Let Martha lead me to the good good good things!
Although I am guaranteed to buy this book, might as well give it a shot to win it!
I love to do crafts–all the time and as much as possible. I am just finishing a master’s degree and will finally have all the time in the world to pursue this hobby in coming weeks. This book would be a great jump start! The photographs from this book are so beautiful and I can already imagine my summer filled with these fantastic projects! I will be a very happy and crafty Brooklynite thanks to this book! I hope to win!
Christine
I love to do crafty fabric projects and grab one whenever I can. This book would be great inspiration and I can already envision my summer filling up with these beautiful projects! Please send me this book so I can obsess over every page and soak up the crafty glory that is Martha!
I was looking at this book in Border’s just the other day and have thought about it ever since! I would love to own this book! Such a wide and wonderful collection of sewing crafts.
I’d love to add this book to my small but growing craft library.
Wow – I usually love Martha Stewart’s craft kits, supplies, and patterns, and I love sewing. I would absolutely love to have a copy of this book!
As a former costumer, I have a LOT of unused fabric sitting around. This looks like just the thing to get me sewing again!
That, and I just found out I’m pregnant with my first child. I have a whole nursery to outfit in the coming months and I know Martha will have some excellent ideas for me!

I knit, but I have not sewn since I was a teenager. I desperately want to get back into it, & Martha would be the perfect guide.
After drooling over all the awesome crafts on Craftzine.com, I decided to challenge myself to a craft a month. I’m 4 crafts in and realize, I have NO idea what I’m doing. I really could use an encyclopedia type reference on basics (especially in sewing). Each time I use the internet to look up instructions, I find myself hopelessly distracted.
This book would be a big help on my personal challenge.
All the best,
Chickpea in Brooklyn
Awesome book and giveaway.
Just discovered sewing and would like to expand my sewing library.
