Judith Durant author of the best-selling One-Skein Wonders series brings us this new book, Sock Yarn One-Skein Wonders. Sure socks are in the title but the book is filled with patterns for stylish scarves, cute baby clothes, tank tops, shrugs, bags – even a little dog sweater! And yes, sock patterns are included too. The book contains 101 patterns contributed by leading designers and yarn shops. Some of the projects also help you get rid of your left over sock yarn and others you can knit up in less that three hours. Each pattern contains a photo and detailed pattern instructions. I promise that after you read this book, you’ll never look at sock yarn the same!

I’ve been able to purge most of the extra yarn in my stash, except for sock yarn. Whenever I go on vacation, I visit a local yarn store. And without fail, what do I buy? Sock yarn! SO MUCH SOCK YARN. Do I ever get around to actually making the socks anymore? Since starting grad school, I haven’t been able to start a sock pattern because of portable-pattern issues. I end up taking easy to remember scarf patterns in the tote for downtime. But alas, the sock yarn continues to pile in the craft closet.
This book would do WONDERS for my sanity and the scary state of affairs in the craft room. I love and own all the other One Skein Wonder books, but this one would really be a stash-saver!

i need this book. N-E-E-D it! somehow, my sock yarn stash got so out of control that i am now putting yarn in kitchen drawers. it’s a sad state of affairs, my house is, but i don’t always have the time to knit socks. some smaller projects that i can whip up for the holidays would be a great way to regain proper use of my kitchen. help me, craftzine, you’re my only hope.

I would love this book because I love small, quick projects. The portability is a plus, too! I also love the variety of sock yarns, and single skein projects are the perfect excuse to buy a nicer luxury yarn.

I’m currently under a sock yarn acquisition moratorium due to mass quantities overflowing their designated storage. I could so totally use some new non-sock patterns for this stuff. (I am so sick of knitting socks! But the yarn is so pretty! I suffer so.)

Besides having a large stash of beeeautiful hand-dyed sock yarn (and feeling like knitting needles are extensions of my hands a la Edward Scissorhands), I have been waiting for this book to come out since I heard about it months ago. I’m sure this new book will be fantastic – I have the other books in the series, and use them so much I’ve gotten them spiral bound. As for a reason to pick me? I have (easily) 3X more sock yarn than any other weight, and can only knit so many pairs and sockhead hats! I’m even contemplating a blankie a’la Shelly Kang as a stashbuster!

I simply adore sock yarn. As a still novice knitter sock yarns are wonderful for taking a simple design and transforming it into something that looks spectacular.

I have lots of 1 skeins of sock yarn. Every time I visit somewhere new, I look for the yarn shop and buy some sock yarn. I always “plan” to do something with it but then I forget what it was I was going to do.
This book would be fabulous….it would help use some of those singles skeins of yarn….especially before my hubby finds out just how many skeins I really have.

I taught myself to knit on a camping trip a few weeks ago. I made a washcloth all by my little self, too. The bottom was a bit wobbly, but about 1/4 of the way through, I figured it out and the rest of it seemed decent. My 9-year-old looked at my washcloth and said, “You’re a ‘nidder,’ mom!” I’ve found knitting to be amazingly relaxing; I also have requests from my four kids and my aunt to knit them socks. This book would be awesome for me since I have so many requests for socks AND because I’ve already purchased a bunch of different skeins of yarn to make those socks with no idea how to put them together.

While I can proudly say that I’ve knit 2 pair of socks, I hate to admit that I have quite a few balls of sock yarn that never made it into socks. I just couldn’t muster those darned teeny double pointed needles anymore.
So I’m hoping that this book will have some great ideas for using up my stash of Cherry Tree Hill yarn, that I bought years ago in Vermont.

Seeing my neighbor’s hand knitted socks was the last straw: I had to learn how to knit my own! (Of course, I didn’t realize that knitting socks was also a gateway to amassing an array of Mary Jane style shoes, but that’s another story.)
Now, I am starting to slow down after having made many pairs of socks & am probably a little O.D.ed on socks in general. You can make so many things with sock yarn and to have a book for inspiration would be a wonderful thing to have because I buy and spin a lot of sock weight yarn.

I love this book series! I have the first One Skein Wonders book and bought the designer One Skein Wonder for my mom. The patterns are great and since the projects are small, I am more likely to finish the project instead of abandoning it to my ever growing pile of projects-to-do-later. I would love to have this book!
