I just finished up a lovely, crackly treat for my 9-month-old using this great crinkle square tutorial. It’s a fantastic way to use up small scraps of fabric you can’t bear to part with and an even better use for old wipes packages! My son loves anything that makes noise and chewing on ribbons is also a favorite, so this is right up his alley. I just wish I’d made it months ago. (Via this great roundup of baby girl tutorials from Luvinthemommyhood, although obviously many of these are just as good for baby boys!)

I made one of these type of things for my daughter last week in the shape of a flower. I made a hole in the middle big enough for her hand, so she has something to hold, and I find it on her arm all the time like a handbag. They’re a great baby toy.
I’ve been wanting to make a crinkle square! Some cats really love crinkly things. The orange tabby we had growing up loved anything crinkly, and he would gladly hunker down on a section of newspaper you had set down on the couch for a moment. For a cat with crinkly taste, this would be a neat thing to incorporate into their bed.
What a cute idea to make it into a flower shape! I made one for my tiny one, but as a flat doll. She loves to eat it.
What a great idea to use scraps!
I’d love to try this as a quilt/play mat for children.
Perhaps placing crinkled material in random squares throughout the mat might be good for children too?
Every time I munch on Sun-Chips I think about making something like this for my niece-on-the-way. Sun-Chips has been packaging their chips in the noisiest crinkly bags that I’ve ever experienced. I have to pause the Tivo anytime I want to reach my hand in the bag.
