CRAFT: DIY Wedding

Dawn and Nicholas Burger got married on September 2, 2007. Their amazing cake pictured above was made by Dawn’s maid of honor and a good friend from high school — both University administrators by day, pastry guru and artist by night! Dawn shares with us the details about their handmade wedding.
Dawn writes:

We were getting married in Philadelphia, and we really wanted to have a reception with a sophisticated cocktail feel, but we were on a tight budget (about $10,000 for a wedding for 70). We wanted the wedding to reflect our style. Luckily, we were incredibly fortunate to have talented friends and family who lent us their amazing skills. Almost everything but the food (and even some of that) was homemade. It was the perfect day to start our life together.

Anyone who has ever made a wedding dress gets to call themselves seamstress in my book, no matter what they do professionally. Of course, it is even more awesome that she is an engineer AND a seamstress.
