You know what’s a lot of fun? Paper mache. You can mix it up with supplies that you most likely already have lying around the house, and from there, the possibilities are endless! Use wire and wadded-up newspaper to create an armature for a sculpture, or use a balloon to create a rounded bowl shape.
This project on The Happy Home employs the latter technique to make a simple bowl. Then you can add some flash on the inside by brushing on gold leaf. Beautiful! I bet if you finished it in something non-flammable, this would make a great tealight candle holder. The light from the flame would reflect in the gold!
