I love working with felt because it allows me to applique details without worrying about fraying fabric or unfinished edges. But, especially if I’m working with very small pieces, it can be incredibly difficult to keep things properly aligned as I sew. So, as someone who has ended up with more than her fair share of lopsided cat faces, I had a serious light bulb moment when I saw this fennec fox face tutorial from Alice at Futuregirl. The basting step seems so obvious to me now—I do it all the time for other types of sewing projects—but it somehow hadn’t occurred to me to transfer the method to working with felt. Thanks, Alice! You’ve just saved me a ton of time on future projects.
