Michelle Engel Bencsko of Cloud 9 Fabrics and Cicada Studio has just released her latest line of fabrics, Beyond the Sea. She took time to chat with CRAFT and filled us in on her design process, her inspiration from nature and balancing life as a designer, business owner and mom. Wow…I love the whimsical patterns and color scheme of this collection and the other one on Cloud 9. I particular love that the cotton is organic and the manufacturing practices used are low impact to the environment! Can’t wait to see what else they also come up with.

The patterns aren’t overworked or ostentatious. They’re simple, but with just the right amount of character. My favorite is the pink coral–it looks like cherry blossom branches.

Perhaps I can make a fabric wall art with the first one on top of the picture. And then I can cut some birds from the other fabric to make the pic more interesting.
