Getting into the spirit of London 2012, Brittish knitter Suzanne Haggerty turned her mother’s garden into a miniature knitted version of the Olympic games. My favorite part: she used wool unraveled from old sweaters to knit her figures, creating a fun and green piece of crafty public art!

No, we’re not pulling the wool over your eyes. A Londoner with a passion for knitting has created a miniature version of the 2012 Olympics.
Suzanne Haggerty, 47, began work after Christmas and has created about 30 figures, including Seb Coe, Steve Ovett and triple-jumper Phillips Idowu. Even Australian 400m runner Cathy Freeman, who lit the Olympic flame at the Sydney Games in 2000, is shown wearing her famous bodysuit.

Don’t you just love how the Olympics always seems to get people in the mood to craft?! Head on over to the London Evening Standard to read the story and see the full gallery of photos.

And how long before the Olympic advertising police get after her?
