I’ve been doing some home improvement projects lately, the most intense and time-consuming one being laying a new floor in my kitchen. It improved the look of my place so much, but the sight of my hot water heater was still driving me batty–and since I’m a renter I can’t move or replace it with something better. So I called on my pal Hannah to help.
Hannah had a wooden folding screen in her basement she thought might work as a cover-up. We took it apart and selected two panels to screw together, then spraypainted them white (they were previously black). I thought they looked a bit too stark this way, so I grabbed a jar of Mod Podge and some vintage wallpaper I had in my craft room and adhered it to the center of the panels. Then I added a few stick-on felt pads on the bottom to protect my new floor and called it a day. I absolutely love the way it hides the water heater but also adds a bit of sunny beauty to the room.

Love what you did with your screen. What a great way to hide your ugly water heater. It’s amazing how something so simple can turn out so elegan.

  3. Thanks so much for the sweet comments! I’m glad you like it.
