Last night’s Greenwich House Pottery’s centennial event was a refreshing reminder of what contemporary ceramics can be. Andy Brayman and Ayumi Horie’s “Who Lives in Greenwich Village” superimposes native species of plants and animals over mapped ceramic blocks of the city, information derived from the “Mannahatta Project.” The platters, mugs, and city blocks all have luster decals over cobalt blue map details. The artists want to see the map tiles kept together and installed in the lobby of 27 Barrow Street, and are accepting sponsors (contact Sarah Archer) to help make it happen.
