Here in Texas, we’ve been consumed with thoughts and worries about the raging wildfires across the east and central portions of the state over the weekend and this week. Our family was on a road trip from Houston to Dallas, and saw first-hand the devastating damage and unreal skies full of billowing black smoke from the wildfires. Friends back in Austin are preparing for the very real possibility that they will be told to evacuate their homes at any minute. Hundreds of homes have been destroyed and families and animals across the state have been left with nothing. Heather of Modern Day Quilts is hosting a quilt drive to help the victims of the fires. Her goal is to collect a quilt for every child who has lost their home. Here are the details:

Quilts should be at least 45″ x 60″, although twin size bed quilts are encouraged.
Please ship quilts to Valli & Kim Quilt Shop, Attn: Wildfire Quilts,
700 West Highway 290, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.

If you have questions, you can email heather at moderndayquilts at gmail dot com. If you live in Austin, you can email Heather and she will coordinate pick up of your donation.

That is a horrifying image. It is bad enough when I hear about this kind of thing from my friends in SoCal, but to see it elsewhere just feels extra bad.
