Damien Ludi and Colin Peillex are students at the University of Art and Design Lausanne and they’ve created an amazing multi-functional device called “Rocking Knit,” which is a rocking chair that knits hats as you rock in it, for a recent exhibition called, “Low-Tech Factory.”

“Rocking-Knit” is a new interpretation of the rocking chair. It offers its user productive moments of relaxation. The to-and-fro movement of this armchair knits hats for the winter and requires no exertion whatsoever

  1. They need to add another knitting gear set so that multiple items can be knit with the same motion. There appears to be adequate room in the frame to add at least one more. Otherwise, I think it’s a negative return on energy expended. Takes more muscle activity to propel the rocking chair (which one assumes weighs 5-10 pounds) than to manipulate a couple of grams of knitting needles.
