This monumental sculpture is called “Chromatic Screen” and it was created by designers Diogo Agular and Teresa Otta of LIKEarchitects from 2,000 brightly colored Ikea children’s hangers. The strange effect it has on the light shining through it is great.

The blog was absolutely fantastic! Lot of great information which can be helpful in some or the other way. Keep updating the blog, looking forward for more contents.

  2. From a craft perspective, this might make a neat office space divider for the home. In one of the photos it looks like they used thick wooden dowel to give the hanger joints some stability. If you could make it so that each column of hangers is rendered immobile by, let’s say, gluing something down the length of the hangers, you’d essentially create “divider walls” that can bend along the dowel “joints”.
The stabilizing features would change how light passes through the finished product, but that’s open to all kinds of experimentation. You could probably incorporate some form of weaving amongst the hangers as well.
The overall weight might be an issue though…
