For the Vintage Crafter
Life of a Bowerbird by Sibella Court, $40
If you know a compulsive collector, this book will justify any stash as well as inspiring its display in unusual ways. (Note: not for the minimalist.) As a stylist, Sibella Court has more stuff than most of us, but also a wonderful sense of how to show it all off well without overwhelming. Organized by subject (Things that hang & clip, Milliner’s notions, Vessels, or Limbs & body parts), the objects are beautifully photographed. While there aren’t tutorials per se, none of the made objects are too hard to figure out, like a tote bag made from vintage painting canvases, or a lampshade made from porcupine quills. The back includes a useful bibiography and shops and flea markets around the world to visit.
