Here’s an excellent remake candidate; it even gives you a diagram! This wall-hanging holds plants. Great for that wasted wall space in small apartments! Mark Gypson wrote this one in.

this seems like it would be a good use for hydroponics? it’d be an easy way to get the water over the growth media and dampen it, just have the pump turn on every hour or two?

You could start out with the outdoor version at http://www.gardeners.com/Living%20Wall%20Outdoor%20Planter/37-001RS,default,pd.html. All the little pockets and waterways without the frame and water collection tank, and about $200 cheaper. Then you could make your own frame, etc… for an indoor version.

From @ourgates listing for outdoor also has the indoor version cheaper the $250. Looks like $169.
