Laser-etched Pumpkin

It can be done!  But rather less satisfying than the traditional method, at least according to intrepid experimenter Jack Chalkley.  I would think a fresh pumpkin would smell pretty good under a laser, but Jack says no. [Thanks, Jack!]

Tried that last year…. my laser only has room for an 8″ depth though, need to hunt out tall skinny pumpkins.  Also, to have any light come through I had to scrape (and scrape and scrape) away at the inside.  I guess that’s common with any carving that doesn’t go clear through though.
